The 996 was Introduced in 1998, and with it came Many Changes to the Iconic 911, with the Biggest Being a Move Away from Air-Cooling of the Engine, to Water-Cooling. The 996 was Also a Physically Larger 911 than it’s Predecessor, Allowing for a Noticeably More Spacious Cabin, all while Reducing the Weight by 50kg.
The Targa, Introduced in 2002, was Powered by the New, Improved 3.6L M96, Rated at 235kW & 370Nm and was Fitted with an Electric, Sliding Panoramic Glass Roof, Capable of Operating in 8 Seconds, with an Opening Twice that of the Coupe’s Sunroof, Allowing for a Near Cabrio Experience while Retaining the Coupe’s Convenience and Security. In a First for 911’s, the Rear Window was Hinged, Allowing Access to the Rear Seat Compartment for use as Luggage Space.
Sold New by Porsche Centre Melbourne, on the 24th of January 2003, this Lagoon Green 996 Targa has Lived a Cherished Life, with the Original Owner Retaining the 911 until July 2017, when it was Sold with Just 35,613km by Dutton Garage. Since then the Second Owner has brought the Odometer Reading up to Just 48,266.
With the Original Delivery Wallet, Including All Original Books, are Invoices Dating Back to 2014, Detailing Service Work, Maintenance, a Pre-Purchase Inspection and Most Importantly Documentation Showing that the Porsche’s IMS Bearing was Replaced, as well as the Rear Main Seal by Jocaro Motors on the 31st of January 2018 (Pictures of the Installation Included with the Invoice).
