WELL MAINTAINED 143BHP MID-ENGINED MG

When the MG factory in Abingdon closed its door for the last time on the 24th of October 1980, it seemed to be the end of the line for the Iconic MG line of Sports Cars, quintessentially British and loved the world over. All that changed in 1995 when the MGF was launched at the Geneva Motor Show, receiving worldwide Acclaim. The modern and cheeky looking MGF heralded the return of MG to volume two-seat Sports Car production.

This MGF, finished in British Racing Green Metallic, was delivered new by MG Garage Melbourne to Mr Picker on the 16th of January 1998. British Racing Green is an Iconic colour for any MG, and in this case, it contrasts beautifully with the Tan Leather, while it is highlighted by the matching Green piping. There is also a matching hood cover and being a modern MG it has all the Niceties that we have come to expect today, such as Power Steering, Air Conditioning, Electric Windows, Airbags and ABS 4 Wheel Disc Brakes.

This MGF is the higher spec VVC model, which means that it is that 143bhp model, rather than the standard 1.8i, which was rated at 118bhp. The mid-mounted VVC engine, driving through a 5 speed gearbox with 4 wheel Disc Brakes and 15” Alloy Wheels makes this MGF a lot of Fun to Drive. In their day, they were considered a much More Balanced driving experience when compared to contempories such as the MX5.

Accompanying the MGF is a full file of of Receipts, including the original Owner’s Manual and Service Book. The all important Head Gasket was replaced in 2014 (16,500 km ago), while the spark plugs and Timing Belt were changed early 2023 (less than 1,000 km ago). For Reliability, the problematic Hydragas suspension has been changed for conventional Coil Springs and Telescopic Shock Absorbers, just as MG themselves did with the subsequent MGTF.

This lovely MGF VVC is ready to use and will delight on an early morning run in the Hills, where you can delight in the Beautifully Balanced Handling and delightfully Free-revving Motor. This MGF is practical enough to be used everyday or special enough to be enjoyed on the weekends.
