ICONIC HOT HATCH

The 205 GTI made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1984, Peugeot’s entry in the European phenomenon the ‘Hot Hatch’, was launched with a 1.6 litre engine, then upgraded to 1.9 litres in 1986, and in 1990 a face lift provided clear front indicator lenses, a smoked rear light cluster, new door cards and catalytic converters to meet upcoming emissions standards.

This Alpine White example with factory sunroof and 15” Speedline alloy wheels, was sold by Asquith & Johnstone, a long-established Peugeot and prestige car dealership in Parramatta, NSW, on 6 April 1992 and retains its original wallet and books. The odometer shows a low ~152,783 kms travelled over 35 years.

The healthy 1.9L 4 cylinder is matched with the robust BE3 5-Speed gearbox, capable of accelerating the 875kg hatchback at a rapid rate, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds, perfect for sprinting on winding roads, and through the hills, while also allowing a comfortable 100kmh jaunt amongst the countryside.

The lovely Red and Black interior with the half leather/fabric combination presents in beautiful condition with the only modification being the fitment of a more modern JVC stereo. Recent mechanical work includes the replacement of the timing belt, water pump and thermostat, completed this year at 152440 km, by Fisher Automotive in Moorabin.
