AUSSIE DELIVERED 80’S SUPERCAR

After 11 years of production the Giorgetto Giugiaro designed Lotus Esprit was given it’s first styling update, this time the design work was done in house by Peter Stevens (who later styled the McLaren F1) who produced a Smoother and More Rounded, yet still recognisable Esprit.

The New ‘X180’ Lotus Esprit was built using Lotus’s new VARI (Vacuum Assisted Resin Injection) bodywork process, allowing for both better consistency, and a vastly more ridged structure, mounted to the S3’s Steel Backbone Chassis.

The 2.2L Turbocharged 4 Cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed transaxle propelled the new Esprit down the ¼ mile at a time of 13.7 seconds, faster than Ferrari’s 328GTB! Capable of 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds the Esprit was incredibly impressive, with only true super cars capable of surpassing it.

This Australian delivered example has driven less than 65,000km in 30 years, and is supported by detailed documentation of ownership and maintenance for the last 16 years, including cam belt replacement, Cylinder Head Reconditioning, Clutch and Brake work as well as Trim Work carried out by Garry Blackman.
