In 1961 Carroll Shelby approached AC about supplying an AC Ace chassis suitable for fitting a V8 powerplant, after which he approached Ford who were only too happy to supply the engines. They engine chosen was the new Windsor 221 cubic inch (3.6 litre) V8, however by the time the vehicles went into production they were fitted with the larger Windsor 289 cubic inch engine. AC supplied complete painted and trimmed Rolling bodies to Shelby who then fitted the engine and transmissions.

In 1986 the Hurlock family sold AC Cars to Brian Angliss which gave him the full trademark rights to the AC name. This sale agreement was only made possible because Angliss met the very high quality production standards required by Derek Hurlock before he would allow the AC name to be used. Angliss then formed a Joint Venture with Ford subsequently producing the AC MkIV ‘Cobra’, with the cars legitimately bearing both the AC names.

This Stunning example of the AC MkIV, presenting in brilliant ‘Cobra Blue’ Metallic paint highlighting its classic strong lines, accented by the Alloy Centre-Lock Halibrand type Wheels is further complemented by the Black Leather Trim work with a MK III Correct Slotted Wood-Rimmed steering wheel and Gear Lever.
