1979 MG B ROADSTER

ROADWORTHY BLAZING B
On its release in 1962 the MG B became an instant success. The new monocoque body provided a much stronger body unit assembly when compared to all previous MG’s which had separate body and chassis. The MGB was in production until 1980, with over half a million built and over 400,000 of these going to the important North American market.
September 1974 marked the introduction of the single largest update to the then, 12 Year Old MG B. To meet the ever tightening American Design Rules, the MG B was fitted with steel reinforced black rubber bumpers front and rear, the ride height was raised by 1”, the dual circuit braking system was uprated with the fitment of a brake booster and the cooling system was also improved.
This Blaze (Orange) B presents in comfortable condition with tidy paintwork and contrasting black trim including lambs wool seat covers and a black vinyl hood cover. To protect you when the weather turns sour the MG is fitted with both a Smiths heater and a black vinyl soft top.
Mechanically quite standard, the only upgrades are an extractor exhaust system, high torque starter motor and a thermatic fan, providing an improvement in reliability.
Unlike the earlier rubber bumper MG B’s, this 1979 B is fitted with the factory revised suspension geometry, allowing the taller ride height, without compromising road-holding, while further improving the ride through greater suspension travel and ground clearance.
