2.4L TARGA, THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The 911T was launched in 1967 as Porsche’s basic Touring Model, but it evolved into much more than that. By 1972, it shared the 2.4-liter displacement and Big Valve Cylinder Heads of the More Powerful 911E and 911S, and in the US market the 911T received Fuel Injection. While it produced less power than its more expensive stablemates, the 911T enjoyed Lighter Weight thanks to its spartan appointments, which accentuated the Handling and Responsiveness for which Porsche’s are widely known and respected.

In addition to Coupe form, the 911T was also available in Porsche’s innovative Targa body style with full Rollbar and integrated Removable Roof Panel that was introduced in 1967. The idea for the Targa came about in part because Porsche believed that fully open convertibles would be outlawed in the United States. That legislation of course never came to pass, but the Targa concept gained Widespread Popularity and has been copied by numerous other manufacturers. Its combination of Rigidity with the tempting option of open air motoring has appealed to discerning enthusiasts worldwide, and early 911 Targas are particularly Fun, Attractive and Usable Classic Sports Cars.

These ‘Pure’ Long Bonnet 911’s have seen a Large Growth in their Fan Base, with many Seeing Them as the True 911’s. Previously Seen as Just the Earlier, Slower and Smaller Engined Models in the 911 Range, their Popularity has now Flipped and Consequently the Demand has Grown Exponentially.

This 911T was imported to Western Australia around the mid-1990s from USA. After arriving it was converted to Right Hand Drive, the conversion being to a High Standard and using a later model Dashboard. The 911T has been subject to some Sympathetic Restoration work since its arrival in Australia and Presents Very Well. This 911T came to Victoria in 2014 and has been Well Maintained with a Comprehensive History File since then.
