PERIOD CADIZ WITH OVERDRIVE

Introduced in 1968 the MkII MGB marked a major mechanical facelift of the existing MGB, worthy of denotation as a separate model, without any major appearance changes. The key components justifying the MKII included: a stronger, all-synchro gearbox, a new rear axle design, an alternator replacing the generator as well as a move to negative earth.

With an Australian Compliance Plate dated 02/72, this locally assembled MkII with Overdrive is a very late Australian CKD MG B, delivered by Lane’s Motors of Hartwell, to a Mrs M Lissendon of Burwood Victoria on 1 April 1972. Benefiting from being a Later MkII, the Cadiz MG has greater safety and creature comforts, including headrests, rubber inserted over-riders and fitment of the optional Smiths heater.

The only non standard additions to the cockpit are inertia seat-belts, a leather bound sports steering wheel and a Sanyo Cassette Radio. Weather equipment includes a useable older soft top hood in black vinyl with zip out rear window and tonneau cover.

This MkII is mechanically standard apart from some sensible upgrades which include an electric thermo fan and spin-on oil filter conversion, providing improved reliability and easier servicing.

MKII MGB’s are well known for their predictable steering and handling, as well as their lively 1800cc engine and smooth all-synchro 4-speed gearbox with optional overdrive. The MGB’s reliability comes from the well proven package developed over years of production.
