‘E’: ELUSIVE EXCLUSIVE EXCITEMENT
The E-Type Jaguar Series III was produced between 1971 and 1975 and was fitted with the all new V12 engine which had originally been designed as a competition engine for the Le Mans 24 Hour. The racing engine had been a DOHC and fuel injected configuration, but for cost saving, simplicity and reliability, the road going engine was fitted with redesigned SOHC cylinder heads and Zenith carburettors.
As well as the aforementioned V12, the Series III had numerous specification changes, including the use of a longer wheelbase previously used only on the 2+2 coupe, for the OTS, thus improving cabin space, uprated brakes, standard power steering, optional very popular automatic transmission and air-conditioning. The short wheelbase FHC was no longer available, so the models were limited to the 2 seater roadster(OTS) and the 2+2 coupe.
This Lovely example is one of just 1,871 Original Right Hand Drive Open Two Seaters built, representing 23.4% of OTS’s and only 12.2% of Series III E-type production! To further increase its rarity this RHD OTS is a Factory Manual example, making this The Rarest Specification Available in Series III.
Presented in Striking Red, complemented by lustrous bright-work, including Dayton 72 Spoke Chrome Wire Wheels specially ordered to suit this very car and finished with a Luxurious Black Leather Cockpit, this E-Type represents an Exceedingly Rare opportunity to obtain such a Desirable Jaguar outside of Concourse prices.
