CONCOURS WINNING, 42,000 MILES -TIME WARP

The Fiat 124 Sports Coupe debuted at the March 1967 Geneva Motor Show just months after the launch of its sister, the Fiat 124 Spider. Based on the Fiat 124 Berlina Platform, the 124 Sports Coupe Featured the Brand New Lampredi Twin Cam Four Cylinder and Styling by Mario Boano, who was Fiat’s head of design at the time. With Four Wheel Disc Brakes and Well Engineered Suspension, the Fiat was Ahead of Its Time Compared to Other Sports Cars of the Period.

The second generation Fiat 124 Sport, the BC, was launched in 1969 and soon after the engine size increased from 1,438cc to 1,608cc. In Australia in 1971, the Fiat 124 Sport became a Hero at Bathurst, finishing ahead of many V8 Falcons, 6 cylinder Toranas, R/T Chargers and Every Other 4 Cylinder or Rotary Engined competitor in that year’s race. Fiat’s Lampredi Twin Cam was so Competitive, that it went on to become The Most Successful Engine in the History of the World Rally Championship.

This Monza Rosso (Monza Red) BC model 124 Sport was Delivered New in Australia in 1971 and after Only 6 Years and 37,000 miles was Parked in a garage, where it Remained for the Next 46 Years. The Next Owner Couldn’t Believe His Luck when he found this ‘Almost New’ 124 Sport in 2022.

The 124 Coupe has since been Subject to a Thorough, Yet Sympathetic Recommissioning which included Soda Blasting the bodywork, back to Bare Metal, where No Evidence of Rust was found, only Very Minor Previous Repairs, then a Repaint by the Healey Factory, Polishing/Rechroming of the Brightwork, a Complete Rebuild of the Suspension and Braking Systems, the Removal, Clean and Refit of the Original Interior Trim, Tidy and Detail of the Engine Bay and Any Other Repairs or Restoration that was Necessary to Return this Gorgeous 124 Sport to ‘As New’ Condition.

That Final Product was Driven to the 2023 Fiat Car Club of Victoria Autobella, where it was Awarded ‘ Best Coupe’, an Outstanding but Well Deserved Achievement. Now showing only 42,000 miles From New, the Superb Condition of this Fiat 124 Runs Deeper Than Just the Cosmetic, the Mechanical Condition is also Superb, meaning that this Gorgeous little Coupe Looks and Drives As Well As, If Not Better Than, when it Rolled Out the Turin Factory in 1971.

Whether you want to take part in Fiat Car Club concours or enjoy its wonderful Sporting Abilities on the Open Road, this beautifully restored Fiat 124 Sports is sure to Delight.
