RIGHT HAND DRIVE – FACTORY 440ci RT

The 1970 Dodge Challenger is a Sight to Behold for all those who Appreciate the Era of Classic 60’s/70’s U.S. Hardtop Coupes. Clearly Derived from the 1966 Dodge Charger, the Challenger was Dodge’s answer to the ‘Pony Car’ Question, Competing Against the Already Successful Mustang, Mercury Cougar, Pontiac Firebird and Chevrolet Camaro. The First Generation Challenger Ran from 1970 till 1974 and was Available as Either a Hardtop or a Convertible, However From 1972 Onward the Convertible was Discontinued, Allowing for Only One Body Shape.

This First Year RT was Fitted From Factory with a 375 HP 4 barrel 440ci V8 (E86) Mated to a 727 Torqueflite ‘Slap Stick’ Transmission, and was Originally Finished in Light Green Metallic, with Green Sports Stripes with Contrasting Black Interior Trim.

Imported to Australia and Converted to Right hand drive in early 1989, the Challenger was Given a New Lease on Life. Now Finished in Stunning Silver with Red Sports Stripes and Complementary Red Interior Trim the Dodge will Draw Positive Attention Wherever It Goes.

Now Right Hand Drive, the Red Cabin Retains it’s Optional Twin Bucket Front Seats, Rallye Instrument Cluster and Original Steering Wheel, now in Matching Red. While Externally Retaining the Original Power Bulge RT Bonnet and Dual Exhaust, it is Now Fitted with Twin Body Colour Racing Mirrors.

Mechanically the Current 440ci Engine is that of a Later Model, Keeping True to Original, While Not Numbers Matching. Sporting Extractors, a High rise Edelbrock Inlet Manifold and a Performance Holley Carburettor this ’70 Challenger has More Than Enough Straight-Line Performance.
