1969 VOLKSWAGEN KARMANN GHIA
LMCT 7819
SN: 4304
STUNNINGLY RESTORED, LAST OF THE PETITE STYLE
Volkswagen introduced the Karmann Ghia in 1955, as just the second Volkswagen passenger model ever produced. The Type 14 Karmann Ghia combined the floorpan/ mechanicals of the Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle), with styling by Italy’s Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by German coachbuilding house Karmann.
This Left Hand Drive example was sold by Evergreen Volkswagen of Illinois USA, and was first registered in 1970. Imported from New Mexico USA to Perth, Western Australia in 2004, the Karmann Ghia was then sold to a Victorian enthusiast in January 2021.
Finished in the stunning combination of Silver & Black over the Contrasting Dark Red upholstery and Black carpets, every minor detail has been attended to in this Karmann Ghia’s Comprehensive Restoration by its Perth enthusiast owner and presents in immaculate condition with well sorted mechanicals. The Ghia sits on aftermarket 15” Porsche style replica Fuchs wheels.
The Karmann body, mated to a Beetle chassis and running gear provides great reliability, fantastic parts supply and ease of mechanical repair. The 1969 model featuring the 1,500 CC engine, was factory rated at 50 horsepower and benefits from upgraded 12 volt electrics, introduced in 1966. This 1969 Karmann was the last equipped with the more attractive petite style front indicators, rear light and reflector assemblies, with larger, less attractive styled items introduced in 1970.
This Karmann Ghia is now ready for you to drive and enjoy, or even enter in car shows. It is sure to provide satisfaction for years to come, both on the road, and admired statically.
