THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST

Conceived as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000, designed around the proven body and chassis of the MGB, with a BMC ‘C’ Series 6 cylinder engine for extra performance, this new model was to be sold under both the MG and Austin Healey nameplates.

As development went along, plans where changed slightly, after the Austin Healey 6 cylinder was found to be too tall for the MG bodywork. Sid Enever was tasked to redesign the Austin unit, and finished up with an engine, of the same capacity (2912cc), with 7 main bearings, 1 3/4” shorter in height, and weighing 44lbs less than the Austin engine. This was the biggest capacity power unit ever put in a production MG when it was introduced in 1967 and continued until 1969 after just 4,542 MGC Roadsters were built, making them a Rare and Desirable MG.

This Red MGC Roadster really is the best of the best, it would be hard to find a better MGC anywhere. With a full Restoration by MG Specialist, Nepean Classic Cars over a 2 year period, this MGC has won more than 23 Concours Awards including 8 Outright wins at National Concours events over a period of 15 years. With all those amazing results one would be surprised to know that this MGC is no “Trailer Queen”, it has been used and has in fact covered over 11,000 miles over the last 13 years. A well presented History File with receipts, magazine articles and 99 Photos of the Restoration Process as well as some trophies and awards accompany this Outstanding MGC.

The Red coachwork on the beautiful MGC is flawless, as you would expect after the 336 hours spent on the paintwork alone. The Deep Gloss of the Red Coachwork is further highlighted the Gleaming Bright work and Chrome Wire Wheels. Contrasting with the Red coachwork is the Black interior, the seats being in Black Leather with contrasting Red piping. Being a multi Concours Winner this stunning MGC has the all the correct details as one would expect, this even includes the ribbed Rubber Sill Covers and the Original style rubber Floor Mats.

Mechanically, this Outstanding MGC is spot on, along with everything else, the Engine was rebuilt during the restoration and has travelled only a little over 11,000 miles so far. The details in the engine bay are as they should be for a multi Concours winner, everything that should be Painted is Painted, everything that should be Plated is Plated and the Engine Bay could be considered to look better then New. The Underside of this MGC positively Gleams, as one would expect of an MG in such Condition.

Driving this MGC is bound to delight, the Performance Increase of 53% More Horse Power, and 55% More Torque relative to the MGB’s 1798cc engine is instantly evident, with the Strength to pull out of corners under acceleration with far fewer revs, while providing longer legs in the gears themselves these MGC’s really do perform but with the glorious smoothness of a 7 bearing 6 cylinder engine.
