RARE FACTORY RHD C ROADSTER

Conceived as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000, designed around the proven body and chassis of the MG B, with an BMC C-Series 6 cylinder engine for extra performance, the new model was to be sold under both the MG and Austin Healey nameplates.

As development went along, plans where changed slightly, after the BMC 3 Litre 6 cylinder was found to be too tall for the MG bodywork. Alec Issigonis was tasked to redesign the C-Series, resulting in an engine, of the same capacity (2912cc), with 7 main bearings, 1 ¾” shorter in height, and weighing 44lbs less than that used in the Austin Healey 3000.

This factory right hand drive MG C was originally built to Home Market specifications on 13th of August 1968 but transferred to Export. It is now finished in the classic colour of British Racing Green and complimented with a beautiful tan leather interior and period wood-rim steering wheel presents in superb condition having travelled a mere ~2,385 miles since a comprehensive professional restoration.

Mechanical improvements include triple 1¾” SU carburettors matched with extractors providing improved performance from standard and the rear suspension has been modernized with Koni shock absorbers. Electronic replacements include the water pump and ignition, as well as an additional cooling fan, all supported by a single Odyssey 12 volt battery. Full weather equipment includes a hood and tonneau made of Mercedes cloth material.
