STUNNING 4.2 LITRE -MANUAL/OVERDRIVE

Introduced in 1966, and produced for just 2 years, the Jaguar 420 was a sports compact saloon, bridging the previous MkII/S-Type and the XJ6 that would follow. As opposed to it’s similarly named stable mate the 420G, the 420 was 14.5” shorter, and 224kg lighter, while still utilising the same 4.2L Twin Cam Engine producing 245hp & 293lb⋅ft.

This stunning Jaguar 420 presents exceptionally well with its Lustrous Burgundy Paintwork, highlighted by the Sparkling Chrome Wire Wheels. The 420 underwent a Comprehensive Restoration prior to 2012 during which time it was repainted and the cockpit retrimmed with new Beige Leather Front & Rear seats, Matching Carpets and the Woodwork restored. A testament to the standard of the restoration is the Jaguar achieving Multiple Awards at Jaguar Car Club National Rally Concours Events.

During its restoration, along with other mechanical refurbishments, the Drivetrain was Upgraded, and a 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive was fitted in place of the original Automatic Transmission. The original steel wheels were also replaced with New Chrome Wire Wheels and the necessary Splined Hubs and Knock-Ons. These upgrades Dramatically Improve both the Visual Appearance and the Performance of the Jaguar.

There is a receipt file accompanying the Jaguar back to 1982. These confirm the Routine Service and Maintenance work carried out over a number of years, as well as the significant number of parts purchased for the restoration work. The owner/restorer was both passionate and very experienced, having restored other Jaguars as well.

The 420 has fantastic external visual appeal, whilst the Classically Styled Interior provides the Style and Elegance which is just so ‘Jaguar’. The 4.2 Litre Engine provides Excellent Performance, with the 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive allowing a Perfect Choice of Gear Ratio for all occasions. Steering is Excellent due to the Factory Original Power Steering, whilst the Power Assisted 4 Wheel Disc Brakes provide reassuring braking.
