Kougar Cars was Founded in the Late 1970’s by Jaguar Enthusiast, Rick Stevens, his Inspiration for the Kougar Originated in his Ownership of a Jaguar S Type Saloon, that he Recognised had a Scrap Value of Only £100-£200. He also Realised that a First Class Sports Car could be Made by Connecting the Major Components of the Jaguar Together with a Simple, Lightweight Body and Chassis Unit. The Kougar Sports Design was Not Directly Inspired by Any Singular Vehicle, but Rick Admits to having a Certain Fondness for the Fraser Nash TT Replica and the Healey Silverstone. Production of the “Sports” has been Continuous with Around 200 Examples Sold over the years.

Recently Re-finished, to a Very High Standard, in a Stunning Shade of British Racing Green, the Kougar looks Fantastic, Set Off Beautifully by the 15”, Centre-laced, Chrome Wire wheels and 7” Headlights. A True No Compromise Sports Car, the Doorless Interior Reflects this, Finished in Black with a Full Compliment of the Smiths Gauges and Switches, while in Front of a Period Style Quadrant, Wood Rimmed Steering Wheel is a pair of Aero-Screens.

Mechanically, the Kougar really Shines, Powered by a 4.2 litre version of the Famous Jaguar XK DOHC 6 Cylinder Engine (from a 1967 Jaguar 420), Similar to the Engine that Powered the All Conquering C, D and E Types, in this case also with the Higher Performance, Straight Port Cylinder Head, like that of the E Type, Producing a Factory Rating of 245hp. This is Mated to the 420’s 4 Speed, All Synchro, Overdrive Gearbox which sends the drive to Jaguar’s much Revered Full Independent Rear Suspension with Double Coil Overs and Inboard Disc Brakes to Reduce Unsprung Weight.

A Large History File Containing Documentation Dating Back some 38 Years Accompanies the Kougar, Importantly Including a Reassuring Victorian Engineers Report dated September 1986, as well as Documentation dated October 2000 showing Correspondence from Queensland Transport Confirming Approvals for Registration in both Queensland and Western Australia. The Kougar has also spent time in South Australia with Proof of Full Registration, so should pose No Issues Australia wide.

On the road the Kougar is Guaranteed to Delight in a Raw and Analog manner, with the Wind in Your Face, and Your Backside Buried into the Seat as You Grip the Wood Rimmed Steering Wheel through a Series of Winding Roads. The Light Weight, but Strong Chassis Coupled with the Superb Jaguar Drive-Train Will Encourage You to Wake Up Early, and Explore.
