The Ford Mustang is surely Ford’s most iconic name having been born in 1964 and still going strong, conceived in 1962 by Lee Iacocca, Ford Division General Manager who delivered a very specific brief to its design team: The car must be a four seater, with bucket front seats, floor mounted shifter, weigh less than 2500lb(1100kg), be less than 180 inches in length, sell for less than $2,500 and have multiple power, comfort and luxury options. The Ford Design Studio achieved their goal in record time with the release of the Mustang in March 1964.

This right hand drive, A-Code 1967 Mustang Hardtop presents well, finished in Oxford White with contrasting Black interior and is equipped with modern under-dash Air Conditioning, wood rimmed sports steering wheel, a Kenwood stereo and an additional oil temperature and pressure gauges sitting below the ignition switch.

The Mustang’s excellent mechanical package now features a Ford HO Windsor Block, SCAT 347ci stroker rotating assembly, Dart PR01 alloy cylinder heads, Crane roller rockers, Clive Cams Hydraulic roller camshaft, Crane digital multi-spark ignition with optical trigger, Pacemaker headers, and a Edelbrock Performer manifold with a Quick Fuel Technology 650 4 barrel carburettor. Keeping the engine temperature under control is a ‘Race Radiators’ aluminium radiator and thermostatically controlled electric cooling fan.

To enhance the driving experience the variable ratio power steering is from an XE Falcon, the brakes are power boosted with front discs from an XY Falcon, and an export brace, Monte-Carlo bar & chassis rail braces have been fitted as well as the comfort afforded by the modern air conditioning and front retractable seat belts.

As a result, this Pony drives well with a dyno tuned power output of 335 rear wheel hp @ 5,500rpm from the V8, which when combined with the uprated 3 speed C10 automatic, provides a very flexible, smooth and tractable power unit delivering strong period performance with ease.
