RESTORED IN ORIGINAL METALLIC GOLDEN BEIGE

Introduced in April 1965, the Phase III BJ8 (3000 MkIII) was the last Production 6 cylinder Austin Healey Update. The BJ8 Interior Trim was a More Luxurious Standard than previous with a Burr Walnut Veneer dash, Wind Up Windows, and a ‘One Touch’ Convertible Hood with Zip-Out Rear Window. The performance from the 150hp 3 Litre 6 Cylinder Engine was a Far Cry from the 90hp 2.6 Litre 4 Cylinder Engine of the first Austin Healey, the 100 introduced in 1952. In February 1967 the most rarest and most sought after colour, Metallic Golden Beige, was introduced. Only 553 Healeys were finished in this colour.

This 1967 Metallic Golden Beige 3000 MkIII left the Abingdon factory on the 7th of April 1967, the last year of series production of the “Big Healey”. This Healey was despatched to the USA, where it remained in Ann Arbour, Michigan until 1990, when it was brought to Melbourne by the Healey Factory. The first Australian owner of the BJ8 purchased it from The Healey Factory in late 1990 and then commissioned The Healey Factory to carry out a full nut and bolt restoration. This restoration saw the beautiful, Metallic Golden Beige BJ8 brought back to a better than new condition.

Accompanying the BJ8 is a photo album detailing the restoration with photos, correspondence and a BMIHT Heritage Certificate that lists the production data from when the Healey was built, also confirming that the BJ8 is Matching Numbers and one of the 553 Original Metallic Golden Beige Examples. Included in the Photo Album is a Certificate and 1st Place Ribbon from the 1992 ‘1st Australian Concours D’Elegance’ on the Gold Coast, as chaired by Terry Gilltrap.

The Outstanding Metallic Golden Beige coachwork is highlighted by 72 spoke, Chrome Wire Wheels and Gleaming Brightwork. The Beautifully trimmed Original style Claret Red Leather Interior contrasts nicely and also features an Optional Smiths Heater, a Wood rimmed MotoLita Steering Wheel and a stunning Burl Walnut Dash. The One Touch Hood is in Original Style, Black Vinyl.

A number of Reliability Improvements have been made including a Modern Hi-Torque Starter Motor and Scorcher Electronic Ignition for improved starting and running, Engine Servicing is improved with a Spin-On Oil Filter Conversion and there is an Onboard CTEK Charger to keep your Battery Fully Charged and Ready for whenever you need it.

This Beautifully Restored and Maintained BJ8 is a Reliable, Comfortable Sports Car with Long Legged Touring Ability, whilst still delivering Great Period Performance. Ideal for an Exhilarating Run through the hills or maybe just your morning coffee run. An Iconic model of the Austin Healey marque that you can really Enjoy.
