BRITISH RACING GREEN & CHROME

Introduced in April 1965, the Phase III BJ8 (3000 MkIII) was the last production 6 cylinder Austin Healey update. The BJ8 interior trim was a more luxurious standard than previous with a burr walnut veneer dash, wind up windows, and a ‘One Touch’ convertible hood with zip-out rear window. The performance from the 150hp 2912cc 6 cylinder engine was a far cry from the 90hp 2.6 litre 4 cylinder engine of the first Austin Healey, the 100 introduced in 1952.

The coachwork is finished in British Racing Green, highlighted by 72 spoke Dayton chrome wire wheels and gleaming brightwork. The interior trim is in original pattern Black with contrasting piping, the cockpit featuring an original Smiths heater, period style wooden sports steering wheel and a ‘Burl Walnut’ dash with a rear view mirror sitting at the top of the windscreen to give improved rearward visibility. The one touch hood and hood cover are both in Black vinyl as original.

Mechanically in very standard specification, the 2.9 litre straight six is supported by: a Lucas generator, points ignition, Lucas starter motor and twin 2” SU carburettors true to its original design, providing a true to period driving experience.

This well presented BJ8 is a reliable, comfortable sports car with long legged touring ability, whilst still delivering great period performance, ideal for an exhilarating run through the hills or maybe just your morning coffee run. An iconic model of the Austin Healey marque that you can really enjoy.
