Designed by the legendary Paul Braq and his team to replace both the 190 SL and the sublime 300SL with one model, the 230SL was fitted with a fuel injected, OHC, 2.3 Litre Six Cylinder Engine and Mercedes Benz’s new 4 speed Automatic. The result was the now famous ‘Pagoda’ Roof Benz, one of the most recognised, admired Classic Sports Cars ever produced. With Aluminium bonnet, boot lid, door skins and tonneau cover these were the last two-seat Mercedes true to the original meaning of SL (sehr leicht, very light), providing competent road holding combined with, for the period, excellent fuel economy.

Built in January 1965 and finished in Classic White coachwork with a White Hardtop and Contrasting Blue Interior Trim this Mercedes 230 SL is a classic example of this desirable Sports Car. The option codes tell us that this Australian delivered 230 SL was not fitted with a factory supplied soft top, just the removable hardtop with the provision to fit a soft top in the future, not an uncommon choice at the time.

Along with the wonderful, Classic Styling, the 230 SL is a delight to drive with Extra performance from the legendary 2.5L M129 OHC 6 cylinder Engine coupled to the 4 speed Auto Transmission with Full Independent Suspension and Excellent Braking System all combine for a top notch Classic Sports Car Experience.
