CHROME WIRED REAR WHEEL DRIVE ROADSTER
The Austin Healey Sprite created a huge stir when introduced in 1958 as a low cost, fun sports car. By 1964 the Sprite had evolved into a much more modern roadster, with wind up windows, quarter vents, external door handles and a curved glass windscreen, while mechanically, the 1098cc motor was stronger than previous, with better casting and 2” main bearings, the rear suspension also benefited from semi-elliptic leaf springs.
Presenting Well in Maroon, this MkIII Sprite is complimented by chrome wire wheels, contrasted by the black interior trim with body coloured dash, period sports steering wheel and 12-volt adaptor. Weather protection is in the form of a removable black vinyl soft-top, and black vinyl tonneau cover.
The MkIII Sprites benefit from the later and stronger ‘Ribcase’ Gearbox, which combined with the 1098cc engine, the later style suspension and disc brakes up front, make this Healey a delightful car to drive. Mechanical improvements to this Sprite include a hi-torque starter motor, electronic ignition and extractors.
Cosmetic changes to this Sprite consist of a custom honeycomb grille, removal of the bumpers now featuring only over-riders front and rear, a single hoop roll-bar, luggage rack and Hella driving lights (not wired).
With a friendly and active club to support you, Austin Healey Sprite ownership is a real pleasure, whether it’s going for a Sunday run in the hills or nipping out for a quick coffee on a sunny morning.
