AN ENTHUSIAST’S UPRATED DREAM HEALEY

Starting life as a New York Delivered, 3000 MkIII Phase I, One of Only 1390 Produced, this Healey was Highly Optioned with Wire Wheels, Overdrive, a Heater, Adjustable Steering Column and More. Finding it’s way to Australia the BJ8 was Stripped Down and Subjected to a Full Restoration, with Many Upgrades to Improve the Reliability and Driveabilty.

Now Finished in Toyota’s ‘Magnetic Grey Metallic’, Aesthetic Improvements Include: Rally Vents, a Badge Bar with Lucas Driving/Fog Lamps, Lucas P700 Tripod Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, a Luggage Rack, Separate Rear Indicators, Light Up Rear Reflectors Linked to the Brake/Tail Lamps and an Aston Fuel Filler Cap.

The Trim was Refinished in Dark Red, in the Correct Patterns with Correct BJ8 Seat Piping. The Interior has also been Improved from standard with a Hinged Arm Rest, Period Style Wood Rimmed Steeling Wheel, Rally Style Overdrive Gear Knob, Three Extra Gauges, Extra Switch Gear and Corresponding Warning Lights (with Photos and Annotations for All Extras).

Mechanically the Phase I Received an Engine Rebuild and Gearbox Refresh in Mid 2019, at the time the Head was Reco’ed, the Block was Hot-Tanked, All Bearings, Gaskets and Welsh Plugs were Replaced, the Camshaft was Reground to ‘Fast Road’ Specification and the Timing Chain & Tensioner were Replaced, while the Overdrive was Adjusted & the Gearbox Synchros were Replaced.

To Further Improve the Mechanicals the Following Upgrades were Installed: a Stainless Steel Exhaust System from the Ceramic Coated Exhaust Manifold Back, an Alternator, Spin-On Oil Filter, VH40 Brake Booster, Thermo Fan, Texas Kooler Fan, Adjustable Camber Plates and Bilstein Rear Shock Absorbers.
