The 3000 MkIII (BJ8) was the final evolution of Austin’s “Big Healey” range, with their enduring style a testament to Donald Healey’s vision, as the silhouette of the model changed very little from the original Austin Healey 100 of 1952. Over 12 years the interior trim level, cockpit fittings and weather equipment improved to meet growing market expectations. The power output of the MkIII’s 6 cylinder engine was rated at 150 BHP, making it the most powerful of the entire range.

Owned by an enthusiastic country Victorian gentleman with his own mechanical workshop, this BJ8 has been subject to constant evolution, with the aim of producing a superb driving, handling and reliable touring Healey.

Finished in Healey Blue, contrasted by it’s rare hardtop, in ivory white, with a rally vent for improved circulation, as well as it’s brilliant brightwork, featuring 72 spoke chrome wire wheels. The front guards have been fitted with rally vents, both for style and increased heat dissipation, while the rear indicators have been replaced with separate indicators, providing improved safety.

The cabin presents smartly, in complementary dark blue leather, with wind-up windows, supplementary equipment includes cold blowing air conditioning, a rear vision camera, 12-volt output, a Pioneer CD player, additional gauges (air/fuel mixture, and voltmeter), a hazard light switch and an independent indicator stalk.

For increased performance the BJ8 has been upgraded with a more modern Toyota 5 speed gearbox, triple 2” HD8 SU carburettors, extractors, electronic ignition, cable throttle, telescopic shocks (front & rear) and a vacuum tank for the brake booster.

While on the side of reliability & safety the 3000 MkIII has been fitted with an alternator, electric water pump, hi-torque starter motor, spin-on oil filter conversion with oil cooler, twin thermo fans and an alloy radiator with expansion tank.

A superb tourer, the Healey feels strong and willing, encouraging you to stretch it’s legs and ‘getaway’ for a weekend, with the space and creature comforts to accommodate you and your partner with ease.
