SENSIBLY MODIFIED FAST ROAD TR

The Triumph TR4 was Produced Between 1961 and 1965 as the replacement for the successful TR3 models. Styled by Michelotti of Italy, the new shape being far more modern, with improved cabin space and comfort, incorporating a curved windscreen and no longer fitted with cut-away doors, which allowed the use of wind-up windows to replace the previous models removable side-screens.

Purchased from Arizona by an Australian enthusiast, the TR4 was granted import approval in June 1999. Once here the Triumph was registered and used in left hand drive for a number of years before being converted to right hand drive, including the fitment of a new timber dash.

A large history file supports the Triumph, dating back to 1983, including documentation for a rebuild of the engine and gearbox in 1985, before a comprehensive engine rebuild again in 1996 with invoices noting: 0.020” main & rod bearings, cam bearings, head gasket, timing chain, head studs, 0.040” piston rings, extractors, Weber carburettor conversion kit (twin 32/26 DGV), flywheel machining, full engine balance, head decking and a ‘Iskenderian’ cam.

The Metallic Grey TR4 has been further modified to increase reliability, safety and performance, these include: Mallory dual point distributor, very large VW radiator, twin thermatic fans, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure gauge, oil catch can, oil cooler, front & rear sway bars, alternator, gear reduction starter motor, 15×6” Minilite style alloy wheels, a padded roll bar and a black leather Lecarra steering wheel.

Previously extensively used in club events and hill climbs, this TR4 is sure to enthuse you to find a reason to get out and about, and when the weather turns, the TR4 is equipped with a heater as well as an easy to erect, quality black fabric soft top, to keep you more comfortable.
