HIGHLY DEVELOPED FOR THE ROAD/TRACK

When the MGA was introduced it created a sensation among MG enthusiasts for its sleek and modern styling. It offered superior comfort, performance and handling over the ‘T’ series MG’s. With over 100,000 A Types built it was the most popular MG to date.

This MkII A was imported to South Australia from California in early 1995 as a restoration project. Purchased by a local South Australian in June 1995, the MGA would finish it’s restoration 3 years later, in June 1998, during which time the MGA and it’s family moved to Queensland. A comprehensive photographic record of the rebuild will be passed to the next custodian.

Sold to it’s 2nd Australian owner in October 1999, the restored MGA would see vast mechanical improvements in the following years, in the trusted hand of “Powerplay”.

The 2L “Powerplay” 4 cylinder engine runs an alloy cross flow head that is fed by Motec M4 Fuel Injection with individual throttle runners, features a billet Steel stroker crank (increasing the capacity to 2063cc), billet steel con rods, forged pistons and high ratio rockers, driven through a 5½” full race clutch, through a close ratio, straight cut, modified MGB all syncro gearbox transmitting the considerable power to the road via an LSD and high strength axles.

The MGA is equipped with ventilated front discs with 4 piston AP calipers, rear drums with bias controlled by way to a cabin mounted valve. The front suspension features gas filled adjustable racing shockers, while a 5 link adjustable coil over with Koni Telescopic shockers takes care of the rear.

In addition to a full service in 2022, MG Workshops carried out a “Pre-Competition Inspection” resulting in reconditioning both the brake and clutch master cylinders, hydraulics bleed, cleaning of the fuel injectors and resetting the throttle position switch.

The cabin is equipped with a Terratrip Rally Computer, Moto-Lita steering wheel, Leather seats, and fabric tonneau cover.

Supported by a large history file, covering the last 30 years of restoration, service and maintenance, this MGA is outstanding to drive and ready for its next spirited custodian.
