HEALEY BLUE/WHITE WITH TRI-CARBS & A 5 SPEED

Introduced in May of 1961 the 3000 MkII was an updated version of the previous 3000 MkI, featuring the same bodywork, suspension and running gear, with the exception of a new vertical grill, and triple 1½” SU carburettors replacing the previous model’s twin 1¾” SU’s, power was increased from 124bhp to 132bhp, but most importantly allowed the works team to homologate triple carburettors (DCOE45 Webers) on their rally cars.

This 3000 MkII BT7 was built between June and August 1961 destined for the US market where it resided Until 2009. An import approval dated 29th October 2009 confirms its new home in Australia. In 2015 it passed to a new owner who then commissioned a restoration, carried out by Callanish Restorations in Creswick, Victoria, finally being completed in May 2018. The accompanying invoice file confirms details of the restoration which included a full engine rebuild using forged pistons, modified rear crank seal the fitment of a Toyota Supra 5 Speed manual gearbox conversion.

The Healey is finished in the most popular duo-tone combination of Healey Blue/White, highlighted by the sparkling chrome wire wheels. The cockpit is beautifully trimmed in light grey, with leather Seats and Matching Grey Carpets and Features a Lovely 15” Motolita leather Steering Wheel. The soft top hood is in black vinyl as is the tonneau cover, while the sidescreens are the sliding perspex type. The bumpers have been deleted from both front and rear, with the front now featuring a pair of driving lights, whilst the Rear has a pair of chrome bumperettes.

As well as the 5 speed gearbox conversion, there have been a number of other upgrades, these Include: an alloy radiator, a Texas Kooler Type Fan, thermatic radiator fan, rally vents in the front guards, an alternator, a hi-torque starter, scorcher electronic distributor, a spin-on oil filter conversion and a cable throttle conversion. All together the final package has vastly improved cooling, more reliable performance, and superior serviceability.

This recently restored 3000MkII BT7 drives well with the added flexibility of an all-synchro, 5 Speed gearbox, enhanced by the glorious torque driven characteristics of the 3000 engine. This combination provides excellent performance for the enthusiast driver, whether it be an exhilarating blast through the hills or a more sedate cruise, this Healey will always put a smile on your face.
