The Peugeot 203 was designed after World War II, the first monocoque bodied vehicle produced by the French marque, built from 1948 to 1960 and the only vehicle they manufactured between the 202 and 403. Its contemporary and streamlined look ensured it was a sales success on the world market and were built in France and Australia.
Peugeot’s 203 enjoyed rally success in the 1950s & 60s, demonstrating the quality of their engineering, when a stock 203 claimed outright victory in the 1953 Redex Reliability trial covering 10,458 kms over Australia’s harsh road network.
This tidy 203’s coachwork presents in two-tone Blue over White and features a vinyl ‘Slideaway’ sunroof whilst the matching Blue and Cream interior vinyl trim is in very good condition. The large central gauge cluster has been enhanced, with the addition of a SAAS Tachometer and Oil pressure gauges.
The 203 has been fitted with a 1.6L engine from a Fiat 125, factory rated at 90hp, double that of the original Peugeot 1.3L, matched to its dog leg 1st, 4-speed gearbox providing ample period performance for the small sedan.
A truly practical classic, without losing any character the Peugeot 203 is a family friendly classic with rally heritage, which is sure to delight its’ enthusiast new owner.
