JEKYLL & HYDE HEALEY IN BLACK
This 1958 Austin Healey 100/6 has been very well uprated over a number of years by its very enthusiastic previous owner. The result of these improvements give this Big Healey the ability to perform admirably both as a club level competition car, as well as being very easily driven as a fun road car.
Some of the under bonnet improvements include, Triple Weber Carburettors on Alloy Manifolds which are fed by Twin Fuel Pumps via a Spin-On Fuel Filter and an adjustable pressure regulator, Ceramic Coated Extractor Exhaust with welded in Oxy-Sensor Bung, Hooker Aerochamber Muffler with Side Pipe, Performance Ignition Electronic Distributor & Adjustable Rev-Limiter, Performance Camshaft, Alloy Roller Rockers, Alloy Rocker Cover, Alternator, Deep ‘V’ Alloy Water Pump Pulley and a High Torque Starter Motor.
Driveline Improvements include a Heavy Duty 9.5” Clutch, ‘PowerPlay’ built Straight Cut Sebring Ratio Centreshift Gearbox, Improved Overdrive with Gear-Knob Mounted Switch and a Quaife Limited Slip Differential. Braking is handled by Boosted Ventilated Front Discs with 4 Pot Calipers and Rear Discs with 2 Pot Calipers and a Cockpit Adjustable Bias Valve. The Handbrake uses a Differential Mounted Disc with Cable Operated Caliper.
The Suspension has been Upgraded with a Heavier Front Sway-Bar, Stronger Front Springs, Needle Roller Kingpin Thrusts, Rear Telescopic Shock Absorbers. The Cockpit Interior is fitted with thin squab classic red Vented Back Race Seats with 4 Point Race Harnesses, an Alloy Rollbar adds to Driver Protection, and a Remote External Battery Cut-Off Switch for emergency use.
The body work changes include front and rear guards which have been slightly flared to allow the fitment of 15 x 7” wide wheels with 205/60 Advan A0-48 tyres. Also very apparent is the Shortened Windscreen, Modified Grille and Fresh Air Inlet, Additional Bonnet Fresh Air Inlet and Front Guard Rally Vents. The modifications are to designed to Lower the Under Bonnet Temperature, thereby Improving Performance, Comfort and Reliability. A Removable Panel in the shroud allows for Easy Access to the Carburettors for tuning or maintenance. The Alloy Fuel Tank is filled via a period styled Alloy Flip Top Aston Type Cap.
A file accompanying the car contains Invoices Totalling some $56,000 spent in the Last 3 Years on Maintenance and Further Improvements. This is a Healey that deserves an owner who will continue to enjoy its full potential as both a club car and a very usable road car.
