BATHURST RECORD BREAKING HEALEY – 256RWHP!

Built by Eric Rudd of Butler & Rudd and Developed by Peter Hopwood (1983 Australian Sports Car Champion) for the International Austin Healey Race at the 1998 FAI Bathurst 1000. With International Entries Including Dennis Welch, who on the back of a Dominant 53 Straight Wins in Europe was The Man To Beat.

Over the weekend Peter was Able to Get to Grips with the Newly Built Healey, Culminating in a Final Lap Rush, Passing Dennis Welch on the Inside over Skyline, Setting a Bathurst Lap Record but Unfortunately he was Not Able to Hold onto the Lead when he Spun on Oil left at the Final Corner. A Valiant Effort given that Peter was Suffering from Terminal Cancer, and was in Considerable Pain whilst driving, Peter would Pass Away Just 13 Months Later.

Sold to S.Brigden a NSW based Banker on the 31st of July 1999 who with the Aid of Corse Automotive Services of Wetherill Park NSW, Gibson Race Engines of Penrith and Brookvale Body Repairs, Continued the Healey’s Development. Mr. Brigden would Later Relocate to Singapore, from which the 100/6 was Maintained with an Open Cheque Book. Development included a Full Rewire in 2002, Major Modifications to the Suspension including Adjustable Koni Telescopic Shocks & Front Coilovers in 2006, a Full New Engine Rebuild in 2009, the Fitment of a New Getrag 5 Speed Gearbox from Cape International in 2013 and a Comprehensive Rebuild of the Cylinder Head in 2015.

Sold Through The Healey Factory on the 26th of July 2016 to the Most Recent Custodian, the Healey has seen use in Varied Competition Disciplines since, including Regularity Circuit Events, Formula 1 Historic Display Laps and even Curved Quarter Mile Sprints (13.9 Seconds)! Maintained by The Healey Factory and High Performance Services, the Healey was Dyno Tuned in December 2017, Resulting in 256rwhp (191kw) @ 5,800RPM, a fair Improvement from it’s Factory specification of just 102hp!

Supported by a Superb History File Detailing All Expenditure Since 1999, this Healey Presents an Amazing Opportunity to the Next Custodian, with No Further Development Required, just to be Driven Spiritedly, Pushed On the Track and Maintained to it’s Current Standard. Flexible enough to Feel At Home Both on the Road as well as on the Track, the Healey feels Balanced and Powerful on the Open Road, Without any Indication that it’s Too Race Focused, while still Blowing The Doors Off much Younger, Less Analog Competitors when Given The Chance.
