FOR SALE AFTER 36 YEARS! FACTORY HARD TOP & 3.2 L

Replacing the original Austin Healey 100, the 100/6 was introduced in August 1956, the new 2.6L 6 cylinder Healey featured 2+2 seating aided by its longer wheelbase, a rearward hinged bonnet as well as an external fuel filler and door handles.

This early Austin Healey 100/6, was built in Abingdon, driving off the production line on the 10th of January 1957 and was exported to the Philadelphia U.S.A, confirmed by the accompanying Heritage Certificate. Original specifications include: wire wheels, overdrive, heater and laminated windscreen.

Making its way to Australia from California, this Healey was later purchased in 1990 out of South Australia as a restoration project, which was undertaken by the one and only Australian registered owner, who oversaw the conversion to RHD, body/paint, mechanical restoration and progressively upgrades, all while moving interstate (and overseas) over the last 36 years!

Presenting smartly in Colorado Red with contrasting flash in Silver, de-bumpered, accented by Dayton 72 spoke chrome wire wheels, Lucas 7” driving lamps and flip top filler, the BN4 is complemented by a Red piped, Black interior matched with a Motolita wood-rimmed sports steering wheel. For when the weather turns sour, the Healey is equipped with both a White, original, rare factory hardtop as well as a Black soft-top and tonneau cover both finished in vinyl, with removable sliding perspex side screens.

Mechanically the BN4 benefits from a triple 2” SU carburettored 3000 Healey engine, now 3.2L, over-bored to 87mm with forged pistons, completely rebuilt by ‘Specialised Cam Services’ of Thomastown Vic in 2004, mated to a rebuilt BJ8 gearbox with Overdrive by Dave Woodhouse of ‘DMD Australia’ in 2003.

Supporting the uprated performance the Healey has been fitted with: electronic ignition, cable throttle conversion, hi-torque starter motor, spin on oil filter, telescopic front shock absorbers, 3000 front disc brakes, alloy radiator, long range alloy fuel tank and an extractor side exhaust system.

Having enjoyed long term ownership, with the Healey on the road since 1995, this BN4 with accompanying photographic history file as well as with receipts dating to 1990, is available for a new custodian to further personalise and enjoy.
