1956 AUSTIN HEALEY 100 (BN2)
A BRITISH RACING GREEN 100 MPH CLASSIC
The Austin Healey 100 released in 1952 became an instant success with its stylish lines created by Gerry Coker, these lines remained the styling basis for Big Healeys until production ceased in 1967. To many enthusiasts the original Austin Healey 100 powered by the 2660cc Austin 4 cylinder engine remains the purest of Donald Healey’s dreams.
Introduced in August 1955, and built for 12 months only, the BN2 Austin Healey 100 was fitted with the New 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive, replacing the previous 3 Speed, Larger, more efficient front drum brakes and benefited from all the production upgrades made throughout the BN1 production, including, but not limited to the 5 stud rear axle, that was strong enough to be retained for the full remaining Austin Healey line up.
Purchased in 1992 as a restoration project, this BN2 subsequently underwent a comprehensive rebuild and as a result, presents exceedingly well, 20+ years on! Finished in Dark British Racing Green with black interior including black leather sets with dark green piping, Chrome Wire Wheels and Moto-Lita Woodrim Steering Wheel, this Healey 100 is a picture of classic style.
Due to the mechanical upgrades of the BN2 model, this Austin Healey is an absolute delight to drive, with the torque filled 4 cylinder engine providing impressive pulling power, now harnessed through a more robust 4 Speed with Overdrive gearbox.
With only 3924 BN2’s produced, representing just 26.85% of Austin Healey 100 production, there is no doubt that the demand for exceptional examples is at an all time high.
