‘ONE OF THE FASTEST HEALEY HUNDREDS IN AUSTRALIA’

Well Presented, this Australian Delivered, 1955 BN1 is Finished in it’s Original Combination of Carmine Red with Contrasting Black Cockpit Interior, is Further Highlighted by Period Style Red Piping and a Motolita ‘Derrington’ Wood-Rimmed Steering Wheel. The Weather Equipment is as Original, with a Tonneau Cover, Soft Top Hood and Sidescreens in Black Vinyl.

Built on the 11th of March 1955, this Healey was First Registered 10th August 1955 in Victoria to a Barrie J Fisher of Sunshine/Northcote with the Registration Number GJN-874 according to the Original Documents accompanying the Healey.

The Healey was Modified and Tuned by Bill Clemens of Clemens Sporting cars in Hughesdale for Competition Events, and was Raced from September 1956 till May 1957 with an Article in ‘Sports Car World’ in May 1957 Stating it was ‘One of The Fastest Healey Hundreds in Australia’.

Subsequent Owners Include Graham Worrell in 1957, Roger Rayson in 1976, Kerry Luckins, and then Ken Styles in 1983, with Ken Embarking on a Restoration of the Healey to its Original Un-Modified Specification over a Number of Years, After Which it was then Seen Regularly at AHOC Events.

With a New Owner in 2017 the Healey was Once Again Returning to its Improved Performance Roots. The Significant Performance Improvements were carried out by PowerPlay Automotive of Cheltenham. The Engine Boasts a Billet Steel Crankshaft and Con Rods, Forged High Compression Pistons, Alloy Cylinder Head, Alloy Rocker Cover, Extractor Exhaust, 100M Type Inlet Manifolds with 1 ¾” SU Carburettors, High Performance Camshaft with Adjustable Timing Gears.

Other Improvements Include a Later Model 4 Speed Gearbox & Overdrive, Alloy Radiator, Spin-On Oil Filter Conversion, Electronic Distributor and Hi-Torque Starter Motor, While the Brakes have been Improved with the Fitment of Ventilated Alfin Type Brake Drums on the Front and Ventilated Rear Drums.

The Performance Improvement is Apparent Straight Away, with the Immediate Throttle Response Tapping into Excellent Mid-Range Power, Providing Superb Tractability, a Result of the Long Stroke Design of the Engine, which when Coupled to the Strong 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive, Encourages You to Take the BN1 for Either a Comfortable Cruising or more Spirited Driving should the Situation Arise.
