1500 ‘XPEG’ ENGINE & POWER ASSISTED DISC BRAKES
The MG TF was introduced in 1953 and continued until the introduction of the MGA in 1955. Originally fitted with the XPAG 1250cc engine, rated at 57.5bhp, the TF was updated with the XPEG 1466cc engine, rated at 63bhp, with a 17% increase in torque, fitted from July 1954 and continued until the end of the TF’s production.
Finished in ‘MG Red’ this restored MG TF has huge eye appeal, with 60 spoke 14” Chrome wire wheels complemented by the lovely brightwork, including twin Lucas driving lamps, badge bar, luggage rack, ‘MG’ emblazoned ‘knock-ons’ and mesh headlight protectors.
The interior has been completely re-trimmed, with the seats and panelling all finished in biscuit, contrasting the black carpets and body matched dashboard. The MG is accompanied by a high quality black fabric soft top, with a full set of side curtains.
Mechanically, aside from the uprated XPEG 1500 engine, the TF has also been fitted with MGB front disc brakes, an MGB brake/clutch pedal assembly and a remote brake booster (fitted in front of the rear axle), allowing for a much more comfortable and confident cruiser, both long and short range.
