SHINING BRIGHT IN SAPPHIRE BLUE

Derived from the Sunbeam-Talbot 90 Coupe/Drop Head Coupe, the Sunbeam Alpine Reintroduced the Alpine Nameplate, 20 Years After the Original Talbot Alpine. A True Two Seat Sports Roadster, Without External Door Handles or Wind Up Windows, but With a Removable Windscreen, the MkI Alpine was Capable of Speeds in Excess of 100mph.

Hand built by Coach-Builders Trupp & Maberly of London, Only a Total of 1,582 Stylish Roadsters were Built, with Records Indicating that 961 were sent to the US & Canada, 445 were kept for the Home Market (UK) and Just 175 were Destined for the Remaining World Market!

Purchased in 1994 from North Parramatta NSW, this Alpine was In Need of an Owner Capable of Restoring the Sunbeam back to it’s Former Glory. Mr. J.Usher of Lilydale Vic was Just The Man, over his ownership he Repainted, Retrimmed and Rebuilt the Sunbeam, Surmounting in it’s Entry in the 2004 Targa Tasmania Tour.

After just over 11 Years of Ownership, the Alpine moved to it’s Next and Most Recent Custodian, Mr. R.Young of Wheelers Hill Vic. With Mr Young the Sunbeam Joined a Garage of Rootes Vehicles, and a True Enthusiast Family.

An Alpine was Famously Driven by Grace Kelly in the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock movie ‘To Catch a Thief’, and always Exuded that Air of Sophistication and Class, while Possessing the True Period Performance Required to Successfully Compete in the ‘Coupe des Alpes’, with Famous Drivers such as Stirling Moss and Peter Collins.
