REPRESENTING JUST 0.17% OF PRODUCTION!

Known as either an MG TD MkII or a TD C, these Rare models were “Factory Tuned Competition Specials”, taken off the production line of Standard MG TD’s and given the Works Treatment.

With a Total Production Run of 29,614 MG TD’s built, Just 1,710 (5.75%) were given TD C/MkII designation and with it, MG’s Special Treatment. The upgrades included:
-A Higher Compression Cylinder Head with Larger valves
-Improved SU Carburettors (1½” replacing 1¼”)
-Larger Intake Manifolds and Air Cleaners
-Taller Differential Ratio (5.125:1 to 4.875:1)
-The fitment of Andrex Friction Friction Shock Absorbers to Each Corner (in Addition to the Standard Hydraulic Shocks)
-Twin SU Fuel Pumps

As a result the TD C/MkII Gained 11% More Horsepower, and was Capable of Reducing the 0-60mph time by near 15% Compared to a Standard TD.

This Lovely Dark Red example is One of just 51 built for the Home Market (0.17% of Total TD Production & 2.98% of TD C/MkII Production), as well as being one of Only 102 built in Right Hand Drive, making this an Extremely Rare British Classic.

First registered in the UK on 27 July 1953, the MkII was retained by it’s original owner for 22 years, following which it was imported into Australia when the third owner immigrated in 1995. The significant history file accompanying the TD C contains original UK registration documents, owner information and a number of receipts detailing repairs and maintenance, including documentation verifying the fitment of a Genuine Factory Replacement XPAG Engine in 1980.
