A FRENCH BURGUNDY CLASSIQUE

Citroen Produced their Traction Avant (Front Wheel Drive) between 1934 and 1957 and it’s No Surprise, that with a Total Production of 759,111 vehicles, in Various Body Styles over 23 Years that the Citroen would be Produced Not Only in France, but also in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark.

Citroen used a Monocoque Body (Unitised Body Construction), Torsion Bar Suspension and Rack and Pinion Steering all of which was relatively New to the Automotive Industry at the time. Compared to the Outdated Separate Body/Chassis design, the Citroen was Significantly Lower in Height, making for much Easier Entry and Exit, which when Combined with the Lack of Necessity for a Centre Transmission Tunnel Vastly Improved the Ergonomics of the Cabin, Allowing for More Comfort and Space.

This lovely Burgundy 1953 Light 15 was one of Just 26,400 built in Slough, England and Presents Well with the Interior having been Beautifully Retrimmed in Plush Grey Fabric, Accented by the Polished Timber Dash Featuring Jaegar Instruments and the Dash-Mounted Gear Lever.

The Cockpit has that Wonderful Aire of Classic Elegance in keeping with the period with the Only Non-Standard Additions to the Cockpit being a Pair of Water Temperature and Oil Pressure Gauges Mounted Below the Dash.

The Original Engine and 3 Speed Transaxle has been Replaced with an Engine and 4 Speed Transaxle from the Later Model ID19, Retaining the Original 1911cc Capacity, with Slight Upgrades, Increasing the Engines Rating from 56hp to 69hp, which with the Addition of a ‘Scorcher’ Distributor makes for a Superb French Classic, Capable of Long Distance Touring as well as more Spirited Sporting Drives.
