Developed from a Prototype Produced by Bantam (who Originally Built Austin 7s Under Licence) the Ubiquitous Jeep Saw Action in all Theatres of WWII, with the Word ‘Jeep’ Soon Became the Default for All Small Four Wheel Drives. Following the End of WWII the Drab Military Jeep was Developed into a Brightly Coloured Civilian Version by the Willys Car Company.
The CJ-3A became Universally Popular due to its Robust Design, Versatility and a Reputation for Reliability, so much so that it Drew the Attention of Mitsubishi in Japan, who Ordered and Assembled 550 Units for the Use of Government Agencies, becoming One of the Very Few “American Cars’ to Enter the Japanese Market So Soon After the End of WWII.
This Fabulous Civilian Jeep was Bought New in Adelaide South Australia in 1952 as an ‘Estate Garden Car’ and Remained in Single Family Ownership for 60 year! Passing to Just the Second Owner in 2012, the Willys-Overland is looking for it’s 3rd Custodian in 67 years.
