REFRESHINGLY ORIGINAL MELBOURNE DELIVERED TC

The MG Car Company started building the TB Midget in 1939 with only built 379 before WWII broke out and the MG Factory was diverted to the War Effort. At the end of the War they resumed building cars and the TB was updated to the TC Midget, which went on to become the Most Successful car in MG’s 21 year History, the car that kicked off the British Sports Car revolution in North America and around the World.

TC ownership ranged all the way from the man in the street to famous actors, budding race car drivers and even Royalty. Phil Hill, the 1961 Formula 1 World Champion, raced a TC at the start of his career in 1951, and at the other extreme, Prince Phillip of Greece, later the Duke of Edinburgh, courted his wife to be in a shiny new black TC in the late forties.

Built on the 2nd of December 1947, this MG TC was Delivered New by Lane’s Motors in Exhibition Street, Melbourne and still retains the Lane’s plate under the bonnet identifying it as car number 8115. Originality and Caring Ownership is certainly the theme with this TC, it presents Impeccably in Red with Cream Dashboard, Door Trims and Leather Seats, whilst the carpets are in black. With safety in mind, lap Seat Belts have been fitted as well as an on board fire extinguisher. There is a full complement of Weather Equipment including a Soft Top Hood, Side Screens Half Tonneau and Tonneau Cover, in Black Vinyl.

Under the bonnet this MG TC is refreshingly original in its specification with the only deviation from original being the fitting of a Spin-On Oil filter for ease of servicing and a sump guard to protect the original cast aluminium sump from untoward damage. The TC looks the part sitting on its 19 inch silver painted wire wheels with a pair of Aero Screens for those times that you are feeling a little more sporty, turning indicators for added safety on modern roads and a fold out luggage rack for the times that you want to partake in some country touring.

The Accompanying File contains invoices for Service and Maintenance from 2009 initially by MG Specialist Ray Skewes Automotive and more recently Thorough annual Service and Maintenance needs have been carried out by The Healey Factory, the Classic Sportscar Specialists.

If your passion is a ‘T’ Series MG then this TC is an Ideal classic car to tackle the Open Road and immerse yourself in what Period Motoring is all about. Wind your way through the Hills with the sound of the Exhaust echoing, or maybe something as simple as a quick Jaunt for morning Coffee.
