POST WAR CLASSIC

The Rover P3 Saloon was produced as an Executive Saloon between early 1948 and mid 1949, when post war vehicle production was still somewhat limited due to continuing material shortages. A Total of just over 9000 cars were produced, with some 1274 cars being the ’60’ series with the 1595cc four cylinder engine, the remaining 7837 cars were the ’75’ series with the 2103cc six cylinder engine. They were available in 2 body styles, the ‘4-Light Sports Saloon’ or the ‘6-Light Saloon’. The number was a reference to the number of side windows. The ‘6 Light Saloon’ had rear quarter windows whilst the’4- Light’ did not.

This Beautiful Australian Delivered Rover 75 P3 was sold by Regent Motors in South Melbourne as confirmed by the Dealer Plate. It Presents Very Well with its period Dark Olive Green exterior and Excellent Chromework. The Interior Trim is Classically Styled with Beige Leather Seats, Matching Carpets and Glossy Wooden Door Trim Caps and Wooden Dash. The dash evokes that Classic Post War Style with the Original Jaegar Instruments providing the Driver with all the Necessary Information.

The 2103cc Six Cylinder Engine was of Overhead Inlet, Side Exhaust design(IOE) which allowed a Crossflow Cylinderhead design. This Successful Design was carried on for many years in the Six Cylinder Land Rover.

The P3 drives well with the 4 Speed Gearbox being very positive in selection. The transmission was fitted with a FreeWheeling Clutch which allowed the car to coast without the engine acting as a brake. This was designed as a Fuel Saving Device and was selected by a Dash Mounted Knob which indicates either Fixed(Normal) mode or Freewheel mode. The P3 will provide very Comfortable and Stylish Touring for you and your friends in a True Classic British Saloon.
