Introduced in 1971 the ‘R107 Series SL or ‘Sports Light” followed the long tradition of Mercedes Benz sports cars starting with the legendary 300 SL Gullwing of the fifties. The 380 SL is a luxury two-seater sports convertible which was in production from 1980 to 1985, when it was superseded by the range topping 560 SL model.

Finished in sparkling ‘Thistle Green’ paintwork, this 380 SL was delivered new by ‘Lanes Motors’ of Melbourne, on 9 January 1981 to ‘Prestige Sunglasses’, and presents in excellent condition having travelled a low ~102,000 kms since new. The excellent interior features ‘MB Tek’ upholstery in ‘Polomino’ with ‘Burr Walnut’ accents, original Becker Mexico stereo/cassette and working factory fitted Air Conditioning.

Retaining it’s original factory soft top, stowed under the stylish rear deck lid, the 380SL’s original factory hardtop, in very good condition, provides the option of secure winter warmth and protection from the elements, if preferred, rather than the open two seat roadster configuration, which is perfect for warmer, sunnier days.

The R107 drives exceptionally well, with the 3.8 Litre V8 engine delivering effortless torque and adequate power through the 4-Speed automatic transmission, confirming the typical strong engineering and build quality in all Mercedes Benz vehicles.

Included with the SL are its original owners manual, vehicle data card, service books and recent service receipts. The SL would make an elegant every day classic driver or a terrific addition to any collection of classic Mercedes-Benz’s.
