AUSTRALIAN DEL, AMERICAN POWERED BRITISH BRUTE
The Interceptor was a Grand Tourer launched in 1966 as an up-to-date replacement for the fast-but-raw C-V8. Its all-steel body was as rigid as a monocoque, and was a radical step for Jensen. The unique body was styled by Carrozzerria Touring of Italy, and initially the body was assembled in Italy by Vignale, but that was soon brought in-house and hand built at the Kelvin Way Factory in West Bromwich, near Birmingham England.
This 1973 Interceptor III was Australian Delivered in December of 1972 and first Registered in 1973, one of just 40 sold new in Australia, of the 2,477 total built! Finished in Midnight Blue paintwork, the exterior is further complimented by the Cream Vinyl Roof and lovely Brightwork.
The luxurius interior presents in beautiful condition with the front seats re-trimmed in Caladonian Cashmere Leather along with new Walnut plush pile carpets and other trim components in 2015. Also fitted is a more modern Kenwood CD Tuner and Momo steering wheel.
On road performance is strong with the powerful Chrysler 440ci (7.2L) V8 engine coupled to the Torque-flight three speed automatic transmission providing effortless torque and a superbly easy cruise.
The Jensen is supported by extensive history and documentation file that will be passed to the next owner. This is an opportunity to enjoy a fine thoroughbred classic English coupe.
