RARE MANUAL/OVERDRIVE CAT

Introduced in September 1968, the Jaguar ‘XJ’ combined years of development to produce an icon, that would evolve over it’s 51 year lifespan. When released it was touted by the motoring press at the time as ‘The Best Car In The World’ with the combination of perfect proportions, a ground breaking ride and all of the luxurious wood and leather that was expected from Jaguar.

Utilising the superb 4.2L dual over head camshaft 6 cylinder introduced in 1964 with both the Series I E-Type & Mark X, independent rear suspension introduced in 1961 with the Series I E-Type as well as subframe mounted front suspension and four wheel Disc Brakes Introduced in 1955 with the MkI.

In unrestored, well maintained condition, this Jaguar still presents as a smart example in its original colour of Regency Red with Beige leather trim. The interior presentation shows signs of use, but importantly care and is equipped with Air Conditioning, an after market cruise control and a Pioneer CD Tuner.

Rare in an XJ6, this Series 1 was fitted with the optional ‘All Synchro’ 4 speed manual gearbox with Laycock de Normanville Overdrive, providing a vastly more engaging driving experience than the lacklustre 3 speed automatic. Mechanically standard and strong, with the exception of an added Thermatic fan, the spirited drive of the Jaguar is sure to impress.

This Series 1 XJ6 drives and performs well with the 4.2L straight six providing ample power paired to the manual/overdrive gearbox. This lovely XJ6 will make an extremely comfortable and relaxed classic car for you to enjoy.
