A TRUE AUSSIE MUSCLE CAR, WITH UPGRADES

After the success of their Mk7, Bolwell started work on the Mk8, inspired by Graeme Bolwell’s working holiday with Lotus in the UK in late ‘66, the new Bolwell, named ‘Nagari’ (after the aboriginal word for ‘flowing’) was built around an Elan styled folded steel backbone chassis fitted with a fibreglass monocoque, equipped with Australian GT Falcon running gear.

This Nagari, chassis #4 is an exceptionally early example of the very limited production run, spanning from 1969-1974 in which only 120 examples were produced, of which only 13 were factory ‘Sports’ bodied. Starting life as a Coupe, this Nagari was converted into a Sports, with the aide of Fibrecar, who had the original Bolwell moulds.

Retaining it’s original 302ci Windsor V8, the Nagari has been retrofitted with a Tremec 5 speed gearbox, replacing the standard 4 speed top loader, although the mechanical upgrades do not stop there with the fitment of: a Holley ‘Ultra Double Pumper’ 650 CFM carburettor, an alloy Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, custom extractor exhaust system, electronic ignition, a brake booster and a large reconditioned radiator with twin thermo fans.

The Silver bodywork was repainted some 20 years ago, and is complemented by the blue leather trimmed cockpit, featuring a suede Sparco steering wheel, Alpine headunit, Clarion speakers, Vector Trail Tech trip computer, 12 volt power supply and cruise control; as well as a full compliment of weather gear including a fabric tonneau, quick fit ‘sun roof’ and a full soft top.

A well sorted example, this rare, locally produced ‘muscle car’ has been used on many long range tours and is sure to provide excitement wherever it hits the road.
