IMPROVED VICTORIAN DELIVERED BUGEYE
Released in 1958 to Rave Reviews the Austin Healey Sprite was an Immediate Success with its Spritely Performance and Precise Handling. Nicknamed the Bugeye/ Frogeye Nearly 50,000 were Built Between 1958 and 1961.
This Original Victorian Delivered MkI Sprite was Restored Over an Extended Period, Finishing in 2007 and Still Retains it’s Highly Desirable Original Factory Steel Bonnet, though now Forward Hinged for Far Superior Access and Ease of Servicing.
The Sprite Presents Well, Finished in Monza Red, Complemented by Black Seats with Red Piping. The Tonneau Cover is of Black Vinyl, while No Soft Top Hood Accompanies the Bugeye. A Period Correct MotoLita Woodrim Steering Wheel has also been Fitted, as has a Set of 13”x 5.5” Performance Superlite Alloy Wheels.
The Numbers Matching Engine’s Capacity has been Enlarged from 948cc to 998cc, has Increased Compression, a Performance Camshaft, Twin 1¼” SU Carburettors on a Lynx Manifold and an Extractor Exhaust System fitted. To Complement the Improved Performance, a Stronger, Later Rib-Case Gearbox has also been Fitted.
Due to its Diminutive Size and Weight, with the Subtle Performance Enhancements, this Little Bugeye is Superb Fun to Drive, and has Regularly been Used on Club Events, Touring the Countryside and Exploring the Local Mountain Ranges.
