CONCOURS WINNER FOR CLASS AND RESTORATION
Following a Restoration in 2015, this Wolseley 6/90 was Acknowledged by the Wolseley Club as “Probably The Best and Lowest Mileage Example of This Model Still in Existence”!
The Design and Launch of the 6/90 was Overseen by Gerald Palmer, who had been a Designer for Nuffield, Before Austin’s Merger Created BMC, when he then Became BMC’s Chief Engineer, it would be His Final Design for the Business after a Falling Out with Leonard Lord, Leading to Mr. Palmer being Succeeded by Alec Issigonis.
Introduced in 1954, the 6/90 Shared Bodywork with the Riley Pathfinder, but was Equipped with the New 95hp BMC C-Series 6 Cylinder Engine of 2.6L (2639cc), a 4 Speed Manual Gearbox and a Traditional Leaf Spring Rear Suspension Design.
Regarded as the Last True Wolseley, the 6/90 was a True Flagship, Luxury Saloon, with Leather Upholstery, Lovely Timer Accents and Ample Room for the British Gentry they were Marketed Towards.
Seldom Seen on the Market, and Never in a Condition Close to this, the 6/90 was the Ambition of an Elderly Gentleman, who Understood the Cost of Restoration, but was Passionate Enough to Continue Anyway, and as such Represents a Fantastic Opportunity for the Next Custodian.
