The Austin Healey 100 was released in 1952 at The Earl’s Court Motor Show and became an almost instant success with its stunning smooth curves styled by Gerry Coker and its genuine 100MPH performance. The styling was a huge advance from the Classic ‘Square Rigger’ inspired MG’s and Morgans of the period.

This 1955 BN1 was delivered by Lark Hoskins of Sydney and is finished in the striking duotone combination of Black and Red with complementary Black interior trim, featuring Red leather seats, highlighted with Black piping. The cabin features the original banjo steering wheel an optional Smiths heater and an auxiliary Amp gauge.

The brightwork is in good condition, matched by a badge bar with a combination of driving & fog lamps and a set of 72 spoke chrome wire wheels. The weather equipment consists of a black vinyl tonneau cover and matching soft top hood and side-curtains

After a period of inactivity, the BN1 was sent to The Healey Factory for a major service and preparation for sale. The works included a tune, major attention to the brakes & front suspension (including new king pins) and a thorough check and rectification for roadworthy, totalling over $10,000.

The under bonnet presents well in very much standard specification with some sensible upgrades including a pair of 1¾” SU carburettors, Hi-Torque starter motor, spin-on oil filter conversion, brake booster, extractors and an alloy rocker cover. The front brakes have been upgraded to discs from a later model Austin Healey 3000, which, when power assisted provides significantly improved braking performance.

The BN1 delivers strong period performance with its legendary long stroke 4 cylinder engine coupled to the 3-speed all synchromesh gearbox with overdrive providing excellent long-legged cruising ability and flexibility. The Healey is equally at home cruising the open road or winding its way through the hills and will deliver loads of driver satisfaction.
