MATCHING NUMBERS, HAMILTONS DELIVERED COUPE

The 356 was Porsche’s first production automobile, designed by Ferdinand ‘Ferry’ Porsche, it was a lightweight and nimble handling, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive 2 door sports car available in hardtop or convertible configurations. As the new Porsche 901 was being readied for the autumn 1963 International Automobile show, Porsche began production of the final 356 model, the ‘C’. Reaching 62mph (100kph) in 14 seconds and a top speed of of 109mph in 1964 this was the sports car that had defined Porsche.

This matching numbers 356 from 1964 was delivered new by Hamiltons of South Yarra, one of very few that were delivered new to Australia, making it an extremely rare example. It retains the original Porsche Driver’s manual, Maintenance instructions and wallet.

Presented in its factory colour combination of ‘Champagne Yellow’ over a Green leather interior restored by ‘Sports & Specialist Trimming’ in 2009, this beautiful 356C is highlighted with stunning Brightwork and rides on the correct 15” chrome wheels (date coded 9/64) with hub caps and factory fog lights.

Mechanically the Flat 4 was factory rated at 75 bhp, however this example drives like it has more than period performance, providing a tight feel with a smooth gearbox and the brakes are very capable, equipped with 4 wheel discs, as delivered when new.

The timeless design of the 356 is appreciated by all enthusiasts, an iconic model of the Porsche marque that you can enjoy to the fullest. This 356C has been with the same owner for 24 years is accompanied by history file with work completed during this period.
