LUXURY, IN THISTLE GREEN

Introduced in 1971 the ‘R107 Series SL or ‘Sports Light” followed the long tradition of Mercedes Benz sports cars starting with the legendary 300 SL Gullwing of the fifties. The 380 SL is a luxury two-seater sports convertible which was in production from 1980 to 1985, when it was superseded in Australia by the range topping 560 SL model.

Finished in sparkling ‘Thistle Green’ paintwork, this 380 SL was delivered new by ‘Worrel’s Motors Pty Ltd’ of Toorak Vic, on the 7th of April 1982 to ‘Miss Louise Nominees’ of Lt Collins St, Melbourne. The interior features ‘MB Tek’ upholstery in ‘Palomino’ with ‘Burr Walnut’ accents, an Alpine CDE-164EBT headunit, equipped with Bluetooth and USB/AUX.

An attractive and iconic two seat roadster, the Mercedes is superbly equipped. When caught in inclement weather, the Mercedes is equipped with and easy to erect, original factory soft top, stowed under the stylish rear deck lid, while the 380SL’s original factory hardtop, provides the option of secure winter warmth and protection from the elements.

The R107 drives well, with the 3.8 Litre Aluminium V8 engine delivering effortless torque and adequate power through the 4-Speed automatic transmission, confirming the typical strong engineering and build quality in older Mercedes Benz vehicles.

Included with the SL are its original owner’s manual, maintenance book (with data card) and service receipts, indicating the last service was carried out by ‘Lastys Automotive’ of South Geelong on the 9th of May 2024. The SL would make an elegant every day classic driver or a terrific addition to any collection of classic Mercedes-Benz’s.
