Introduced in October of 1964 the Updated Series I, 4.2 E-Type Succeeded the Original 3.8, with it’s Enlarged Capacity (3781cc – 4236cc) the New E-Type Gained 23 lb.ft of Torque, had Improved Cooling & Inlet Manifolds, Marked the Move to the use of an Alternator, Negative Earth, a Vacuum Brake Booster, More Luxurious and Comfortable Seats, and Importantly the Full Synchro 4 Speed Gearbox.

Dispatched on the 2nd of September 1965, this Cream, Numbers Matching (Including Cylinder Head) Right Hand Drive, 4.2 Litre Series I Fixed Head Coupe was Sold new through Bryson, Melbourne.

Purchased in January of 2016, as a “Lovely and Very Original” Series 1, with “Some Evidence of Some Paint and Panel Work Over the Years” as to be Expected of a 50 Year Old Jaguar. In the Last Four Years the Most Recent Owner has Cherished the E-Type, Spending Over $50,000 on Improvements and Maintenance.

From February to May of 2019 the FHC was Entrusted to High Country Motors of Valley Heights NSW, where the Engine and Gearbox were Removed for Refurbishment, this Included an Overhaul of the Gearbox, Fitment of a New Clutch Kit, a Tear-Ddown of the Engine for a Cylinder Head Rebuild, New Main and Big End Engine Bearings, New Gaskets, New Welsh Plugs, a New Water Pump and More.

While the Bonnet was Off, and the Mechanicals were Removed, the Tailshaft, Front Suspension, Steering and Brakes were are Also Overhauled and a New Stainless Steel Exhaust System was Fitted with the Re-Installation of the Drive-Train. With the Final Cost Just Shy of $40,000, the Work was Carried Out in a Superb Manner.

Rare to find an Original Australian Delivered Series 1 E-Type still Retaining All of it’s Original Numbers and Body Colour, this Jaguar Ticks All the Right Boxes for those Chasing a 4.2L Fixed Head Coupe.
