MAGNIFICENT MAGNETTE

After First Seeing Use in the 1930’s the Magnette Name was Reintroduced by MG in 1953, with the Magnette ZA. Designed by Gerald Palmer, of Both MG Y-Type and Jowett Javelin Fame, the New Magnette was a Departure from the Y-Type’s Pre-War, Running Board Styling, In Keeping with the Shift from MG TF to MG A that Would Take Place In 1955.

Featuring the Then-New 1489cc BMC B-Series Engine with Twin 1 ½” SU Carbs, the ZB Magnette was Rated at 64bhp, and was Driven Through a 4 Speed Manual, Floor Change Gearbox with Synchromesh on the Top Three Gears. The Magnette’s Sister Car, the Wolseley 4/44 Shared much of the MG’s Design, but was Powered By a Detuned 1250cc XPAG Engine from the Y-Type, Producing Just 46bhp.

This Lovely Birch Grey ZB Magnette is As Nice As They Come, with a Significant Restoration Undertaken in the Mid 90’s. A Comprehensive Receipt File which Accompanies the MG Confirms All the Work Carried Out on the Engine, Gearbox, Steering Rack, Suspension, Brakes, Interior Trim and Paint, as well as Receipts for Miscellaneous Service and Repairs.

Complementing the Classic and Original Birch Grey is the Port Wine Trimwork, Grey Carpets and the Iconic, British Luxury Sedan Features, a Timber Dash & Door Cappings, and the Bakelite Rimmed Banjo Steering Wheel.

Touring in this MG Magnette will Transport You Back to a Period in time When Life was Simple, Un-Rushed and Driving was a Pleasure, Rather Than a Chore.
